Life is liked a mayonnaise jar
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remembers the mayonnaise jar and two cups of coffee. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He asked again if the jar was full. The students agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “yes”. The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. “Now,” said the professor. “I want you to recognise that this jar represents your life, The golf balls are the important things – God, your family, your children, your friends, your health, your passions. And if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. “The pebbles are the other things that matter like your house, your job, your car. The sand is everything else – the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. “Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit your grandparents. Take the time to get medical check-ups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house or fix the waste disposal. “Take care of the golf balls, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.” One of the students raised her hand and enquired about what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a cup of coffee with a friend or your brothers or sisters.” |

作者呂小敏簡介
呂小敏出生在中國河南的一個貧困鄉村裏，父母都是老實巴交的農民。小敏上小學時患鼻竇炎，初中沒有畢業就輟學在家幫父母做農活。但是，就是這樣一個弱小的女子在她堅定的信靠了主耶穌以後，竟然唱出了930多首基督教聖詩，後來經整理後統稱"迦南詩歌"。這些基督教聖詩曲調之優美，歌詞達意之深邃令北京音樂學院的高材生們望塵莫及。三年前北京的兩家專業團體合作錄製小敏的迦南詩歌，錄製結束時全體工作人員起立鼓掌，渴望能有幸見這位音樂大師一面，當樂隊指揮告訴他們詩歌的作者是一個不識樂譜，初中還沒畢業的鄉村姑娘時，所有的人都震驚了！
多少人問小敏，你是怎麼唱出每一句的？哪來的詞兒？又不事先寫曲子，開口成曲，出口成詩，你究竟是怎麼做到的？小敏說："我自己什麼也不是，只是跟你們一樣的平凡人；我信主，是神揀選了我，是神在我身上作工。每當我有感動，詞兒就源源不斷來了，我自己也不知道唱的叫做什麼調。"
最初的創作是當小敏唱出一首新歌時，由旁邊懂曲調的人靠聽寫紀錄下歌譜。後來小敏有了個小錄音機，當"有感動"時，新的歌、曲從心中升起，立刻打開隨身攜帶的小小的錄音，錄下唱出的新歌曲，再由懂音樂的人聽錄音帶，紀錄下曲譜。
大江南北，從東到西，只要是有基督徒的地方都會聽到小敏的迦南詩歌。迦南詩歌第五首， 此篇詩歌感人之處在於它出自一個生活在中國社會最底層的農家女之口，我們聽到的不是怨天尤人，憤世嫉俗，而是對主耶穌由衷地讚美。
